I asked this question in another forum on Reddit can someone tell me if it’s possible to use an ad blocker along with a paid VPN such as ipvanish all the ad blockers I’ve seen have some sort of VPN included I know some vpns come with ad blockers but ipvanish does not also my fire edition TV is not rooted any help is appreciative thanks
Buy a Raspberry Pi and put a Pi-Hole on your network. No VPN needed, and blocks ads.
Tomato firmware for your router?
You can sideload the vpn app.
I dont believe its possible to use an adblocker (with a built in VPN) with a separate VPN (such as IPVANISH)
I watched a youtube video which indicated that you can do it by connecting to a SOCKS5 proxy server provided by IPVANISH. But further research on this forum indicated that connecting to a SOCKS5 Proxy is not the same as connecting to the actual IPVANISH VPN itself. The SOCKS5 proxy just masks your IP address; it does not provide any kind of encryption etc.
See link below which provides some quite useful information:

You could use the Google Play store version of Blockada which only uses DNS changes to block ads. Avoid the full version which uses a virtual VPN to redirects all internet traffic through Blockada servers. Your IPVanish VPN will continue to tunnel using whichever server you specify.
Or you could just change he DNS IP addresses yourself to ones that block ads. The ad blocking IP addresses are 176.103.130.130 for DNS 1 and 176.103.130.131 for DNS 2. You can either log in to your router as administrator and look for the DNS settings, or change them directly on your Fire TV.
To change DNS on just Fire TV devices, go to Settings > Networks, go to your network, click on it and choose Forget Network. Then start to connect again, but after entering the password do not click on Connect, click on Advanced and fill in the ad blocking DNS IP addresses there.
It is very simple. You can buy any VPN of your choice which is supported. For adblock, you need not pay anything. All you need to do is to change the network configuration for the wifi in firetv to use custom AdGuard DNS https://adguard.com/en/adguard-dns/overview.html. I can confirm it because this is precisely what I am having.
Internet is flooded with tutorials. See this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAv0iuWVGF8
I’m paying for ipvanish and downloaded it from the Amazon store and I’m thinking if I have to sideload anything it would have to be an ad blocker but all ad blockers that I find come with a built-in VPN and I’ve read other articles that when someone tried to use a paid VPN with an ad blocker that has a built-in VPN it disconnects the paid VPN you cannot use two vpns at the same time so I’m wondering if they make ad blockers without built-in vpns if they do I can’t find one I heard if you try to use a VPN with an ad blocker you might have to root and I’m not going to do that if that’s the only way thanks for your response
I want to thank you for your reply all the replies that I received have been very helpful but yours was virtually a walkthrough how to and that I appreciate I will look at doing what you said to do and hopefully I set it up correctly lol once again thanks for your help
