UPD: Profiles are now back in new ProtonVPN redesign and they are working pretty much in the way I wanted them to be working now. Thanks Proton team!
ProtonVPN has profiles that you can create, update and use for convenience. Unfortunately, there is just one thing that keeps bugging me all the time.
Each profile row has 3 click interaction points:
- “Connect” button.
- “Edit” button.
- Entire row clickable area (except buttons).
I have no issues with 2 first ones, but I do have with the third one. This clickable area is the biggest out of 3, so logically it should be assigned to the most common action, but it isn’t. What it does is it opens the profile edit menu (attached little crappy drawing if was not clear enough).
Sorry, but WHY? Why is it not connecting to the profile instead?
It makes no sense at all to me, if someone needs to change profiles that frequently, so they want to have “quick” action to open the edit menu, maybe they don’t need profiles at all? And even with most frequent changes to the profile, I still see no way of this being more frequent than the case when the user will just want to connect to their profile.
As maximum, in my opinion, this kind of thing should be left as an option to change, if you want to connect to or edit the profile when you click in that area.
For example, in desktop you can’t even edit your profile from “profiles” tab, you have to click “Manage” button, which will open a pop-up. The only thing you have is connect button (still no connect on the profile row click though).
So, is there a chance that this will be changed or added as a configurable option, as I mentioned above?
I am even willing to contribute if needed, I am mostly web & backend dev though.
