Antivirus affecting Internet speed

So I was using norton for a while but the pop-ups from Norton itself trying to do up-sells for products I don’t need got me tired of the product so I decided to try other av solutions:

I tried both kaspersky and bitdefender and one weird problem that I have compared to norton is that both AVs slow my internet speeds a bit (150mb/s or so) in speedtest and in other tasks…

I’m currently testing bitdefender, any settings that I can change to minimize this?

Ofc I tested the speeds using the same server and more than once with both norton and bitdefender. in the image the first result is from the bitdefender (561 mb/s down) and the second result is from norton (754 mb/s down)

I have a ryzen 7 1700x, system is installed on a NVME.

Its probably a setting within the AV itself automatically setting up a VPN or network protection of sort.

AV typically doesn’t slow down internet but if the web shield is set to high protection it can slow down a bit but mostly nothing its more AV companies VPN products that will 100% slow down your internet depend on how fast their VPN service is and what country you connect your VPN to

Norton’s intrusion prevention module is the culprit. If you disable this “feature,” you will immediately see an improvement in your speed test/download performance.

VPN is off, I tried to disable the firewall and tracking protection temporarily to see if the speeds improved, but no change

My problem was with Bitdefender not Norton,
But I solved it by changing my ethernet to a pci one
