Anyone able to play the game using a VPN on PC?

I’m using TunnelBear to connect to a server in NZ (I’m in EU) and able to launch the game but, after the launch video, the game tries to connect to Ubisoft servers and always fails. I’ve seen some messages from people confirming that this works but I can’t make it work. Am I the only one?

Yes, with uplay.

After is started the game i closed the vpn. Its losing the connection to the server, but after it connects to the closest one near my home.

I have PC Game Pass so I don’t know if the solution is applicable for other platforms like Epic Games but, here is what I did:

​

  1. Preload the game using following the instructions from this thread
  2. Download a VPN application like TunnelBear which has enough free usage for this
  3. Confirm Ubisoft Connect is closed. Use TunnelBear to connect to an australian server (whatever server in OC should do the job)
  4. Now open Ubisoft Connect (probably will ask you again your Ubisoft credentials) and you should be able to launch the game
  5. Launch the game
  6. As soon as the game is launched (once the game is fullscreen) close the VPN connection
  7. Wait for the connection to be established again
  8. Game should connect to Ubisoft servers properly
