NordVPN and ExpressVPN seem to be pretty much the most popular and well rated VPNs around.
First I tried NordVPN, which was terrible because when it worked, the latency was too terrible to browse the internet properly…for some reason I could still get 25ms pings but loading google.com took 20 seconds. And that’s when it would even stay connected. Every 15 to 60 minutes I would lose my internet connection even though NordVPN app still said I was connected. At least I could actually download torrents quickly though.
Now ExpressVPN. Much less latency browsing the web (still not great but acceptable), speedtest is usually not bad but still sucks sometimes. The problem? The bottom torrent has been downloading for hours. The top one has only been going for 15 minutes but it should have already finished downloading in that time.
I don’t need something that costs $3 or $6 or $9 per month. Is there a premium service out there that costs more but that doesn’t suck? Maybe I’ve just had poorer than normal results with both of the VPNs that I’ve tried but I don’t want to go through a dozen of them before I find one that might work.
I dunno man, I’ve been using NordVPN and haven’t noticed a lot of issues while doing regular internet stuff - even downloading torrents and watching youtube at the same time works alright, connections don’t drop. Maybe it’s an issue with your ISP throttling VPN traffic. Maybe some kind of hardware issue. You can try out some other vpns but if the problems persists maybe the problem is somewhere else
The two vpns that you mentioned are so popular that much people use. If too much people are using the same channel at the same time, your speed will be limited. You can change other reliable bur less-known vpns, such as Panda or Plex. Plex has nearly a hundred of channels. When you find one of them is crowded, just change into others. I remembered that it costs $3.3 a month, and if you charge a year it just $2.2 a month.

I’m also facing same issue with NordVPN. 90% reduction when connecting to far servers and 70% reduction when connecting to near servers from my location. And sometimes there are disconnections abruptly, which leaks the real IP and location info and when it’s disconnects there is no notification/alert, I find it’s disconnected when pages suddenly pages are not loading and everything gets stuck. It’s a top tier VPN commercial VPN provider with lots of users, but even after tons of complaints regarding slow speed, I suppose they are not working to fix it. Even when I’m connected as I mentioned slow speed, which does not help when using private trackers, because we need to download the file as fast as possible and also upload simultaneously and also once completed. But, when I download, I’m was not uploading and I found out that NordVPN does not support “port forwarding” which is crucial when seeding torrents.
This is the reason, I’m using seedbox, which is totally a different experience when it comes to download and upload. You will get super fast download and upload speed which is crucial when download and uploading torrents from private trackers. You will just feel the awesomeness when you get a reliable seedbox be it a shared or dedicated. You may ask which seedbox, I’m using FeralHosting, I have also used UltraSeedBox recently, it’s a reliable one with more features than FeralHosting, but performance wise both are good. I changed from USB to FH, just to test it out as when I completed my research for Seedbox, I finalized both of these seedboxes.
