So out of the blue Astrill doubled their price, 240USD instead of 120USD per year.
Proof that they had a massive customer loss due to expats leaving.

Astrill is not that great.
But I did just get a two year deal as my backup…hahah, suckas.
Today they raised the prices from 15 to 30 USD per month just to make it look like they give a 50% discount as black Friday deal.
In my home country this is clearly illegal to falsely indicate a higher price to make it look like there is a discount. They would be fined instantly.
Scum behavior. Shame on you Astrill. If you don’t offer a deal on 1 year plan don’t pretend to do so.
However they do have a descent discount for the 2 year plan. I’m actually considering to sign up for that.
I’m sure it works great, everyone loves to say how amazing it is, but I never felt okay paying that much just to be able to access internet (plus I’m cheap as fuck). All big name VPNs are trash, though at least this one works in China
I am one of those people who hate on astrill for their prices but goddayum do they work when you need it.
That being said, I found alternatives but I am using them and deciding later to quit or not.
But from a business standpoint, this is one easy way to fuck up your business. There are alternatives and the price is already high. It’s going to make a lot of people jump ship, so if indeed it is a fact they are losing customers, this will just make it worse.
Oh well, luckily for me I renewed for 2 years recently because not long after I renewed for one year I came across a 20% off code and thought fuck it why not.
