Omg. I’m asking tips to keep a machine safe. Telling that everything is insecure, and isolate a VPN from outside doesn’t help many of us.
I think your advice was good.
I just asked for tips to keep a VPN safe, other than don’t use it. A VPN is a need for many people, and I asked for your opinion in the matter.
Thanks for being so rude.
If I sounded rude, I’m sorry - english is not my first language and my posts were not meant that way.
All I wanted to do was warn beginners of the risks that they take if they connect a poorly secured VPN server to the internet: After all you are opening a direct gate to your home network, where you might have other computers that you don’t expect to be accessible from the internet because they are behind a nat - but now (with a badly configured VPN) they suddenly are.
I am in no position to give any tips on how to secure a VPN server because I only played around with OpenVPN once. This is why I pointed out that OP could follow a few tutorials as a start.
No problem. I agree with you, it was a good advice,I understand every bit of it.
I only asked for tips because I thought, by your comment, that you had experience, and right now im looking for ways to improve my network security, and after reading so much around the web, i want lo learn from people experience with the matter. I already have some layers of security, but more opinions the better.
Have a good day!
