Blocking VPN Usage on network

Hi,
I have a 14 year old that really likes to get around the usage restrictions we put on their devices. Is there a way to prevent the usage of a VPN on a network (or Eero in particular)? Thanks!!

Sit down and have a conversation with your child and discuss why they are trying to get around the restrictions. Then negotiate a reasonable compromise that includes changes that make them feel like you trust them instead of controlling them.

Change the SSID and password. Put the kid on the guest network and lock it down

Maybe block the vpn domains via policy

firewalla. i use it with eero. it will block vpn

Take away his devices until he learns to respect you as a parent.

Also consider how to block TOR.

You can set up parent controls on a device and put restrictions per app

I would use a dns filtering option. I use NextDNS personally. You can enable something called block bypass methods. That will disable most if not all vpn services.

I think most parents start here. The problem is when they have lied and violated the agreement time and time again you have to decide if their opinion of you matters more than protecting them from messing up their own lives before they are even 18.

Yeah this doesn’t work. The kid will go to Dollar General or Walmart and buy a phone for $30, and just pay for the service.

Can I use it to block my kid off using vpn from Washington?
