I support my customers remotely especially with the pandemic. I was curious if I were to spend a week in Mexico or the Caribbean would I still be able to access Citrix apps and Epic? Or would that be blocked because I’m accessing it from a foreign country?
It’ll be entirely up to your customers’ systems and networking teams what the connection policy is. Use VPN while abroad to make your connection look like a US connection at the least.
This is a great opportunity to use a VPN back to a local or allowed network. It is literally what VPNs are for, almost exactly.
I’ve done this numerous times and I know people who have spent months working abroad.
Long story short is that technically it can be in violation of policies. Whether or not these will be enforced, and what the consequences would be, are up to the health system. I’ve worked from the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia with no issues. One time I got a splunk alert because I was accessing from Dominican Republic - an IT person reached out and I explained that I was working down there and there were no issues.
I’m currently in Costa Rica and I’m able to connect through my organization’s VPN. I have management’s blessing and I haven’t had any issues with Epic or userweb.
I more have issues with our local office365 server, but Epic has been okay.
Anyone try to connect to Epic in Mexico through your company VPN? Any issues?
I love on the Netherlands and I can confirm this. My agreement covers NL, BE and the US I think. Maybe the UK too, I’d have to check.
