I was in the same spot when setting my locations and for some reason the current playback area always updates to Waco area and the home area always updates Abilene area. Is there any way to make the current playback area also Abilene?
I don’t understand why they won’t update to the same location
This always works for me. Put YouTube Tv on your phone. Make sure it’s connected to the same Internet source as your TV connection.
On your Tv, in the YouTube TV app, go to the Current Playback Area. Click it; a spinning buffering symbol will appear. While it’s spinning, on your phone go to the Current Playback Area in your phone’s YouTube TV app and click Update.
The two devices should now talk to each other and agree on the area. If they agree on the area to which they update, but it is still wrong, then you need to reach out to YTTV support; something is wrong.
Why are you updating your home area? You should never touch that unless you move.
Waco is significantly further away from me than Abilene
Hmm – I’d recommend restarting your router and then updating your current playback location again. If it still shows different locations for current playback area and home area, you can contact Live Support for further help.
Thank you so much this method work perfectly. I tried several times other ways and your recommendation was the only one that worked
Most of the time when this happens, restarting the router is not necessary; updating the current playback location will correct the problem.
You’re welcome; glad it did the trick.
You’re welcome; happy to help.
Been dealing with this issue for months and this year old post was the fix! Thank you kind stranger!
No problem.
It still slays me, however, that, literally years after it started happening, YouTube TV has yet to fix this recurrent and persistent bug. It seems like if someone sneezes in the wrong direction the current playback area goes haywire. Clearly something needs tweaking in their software.
