For anyone wanting to use FWG VPN Client with Ipvanish here is a working method as since updates of FWG Box, FW App and the following link work around doesn’t work.
The updated guide in the link above is incorrect @firewalla and doesn’t work, I am reporting this to you and explaining for other users the correct work around and also to report some bugs/issues I have found.
Bugs/Issues Below (FWG Mode is irrelevant to the following as the bugs/issues are with the app it’s self regardless of which mode you are running FWG)
Each configuration / platform below are all using the latest stable release app and latest stable release box version.
Samsung (Android 11)
Had this issue previously in older app version with Android 11.
When selecting VPN Client - 3rd Party VPN - Import Config File, after you select the .crt file or .ovpn file the app just reverts back to the main FW App screen and does not allow you to add/import client vpn, which ever way you try it just cycles in the same loop back to the main FW App screen.
iPhone (IOS 15.1)
When selecting VPN Client - 3rd Party VPN - Import Config File, after you select the .crt file or .ovpn file or manually add config, which ever way you try to add/import the config, after saving the VPN Profile it defaults the edited configuration back to the original .crt file config, anything you edit or add is deleted and defaulted to just the .crt config details, which ever way you try doesn’t let you save what you’ve done. (even with my working work around)
Lenovo Tab (Android 10)
My only success of importing a client vpn is using Android 10, but not via the method explained in the FW guide in the above link.
This is how I did it….
As explained above replacing the ca.crt line with the contents of the .crt file doesn’t work, I had to edit the contents of the .crt file in the following way.
Copy the contents of the .crt config file, then replace the ca ca.crt line with the contents of the .crt file but you need to include the following
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- CONTENTS HERE -----END CERTIFICATE-----With no spaces between lines, I have vigorously tested various configurations and this is the only one that worked.
