So I’m planning on getting a gaming PC and I’m going to be playing Paladins and a variety of other games on it, but I have no idea what software or hardware is good for gaming. Can someone please help point me into the right direction? Price isn’t really a factor for me. I just want a reference on what technology I should be on the look out for, or what works best for y’all. Thanks!
Well, I mean if price isn’t really an issue, then the 2080ti is probably the best graphics card on the market, if you’re wanting to play some games other than Paladins that requires a better system. The best cpu on the market right now is probably the i9-9900k. But again, these are both very expensive components. Tell me if you need any more help!
Paladins doesn’t require a very good computer since it’s built on Unreal Engine 3, which is a very old engine, 15 years old already.
So if you wanna invest on a computer to play Paladins almost exclusively, you need to invest more on a good processor (not necessarily top tier) because Paladins is more CPU-demanding than GPU-demanding. With an average graphic card and a good processor, you can get a fairly stable 175 FPS playing Paladins.
However, if you plan to play other games (especially recent ones), having an average graphic card you probably won’t be able to play on high video settings and have a stable FPS.
In the end, it all comes to the question: “how much money are you willing to spend?”
If you are not into PC hardware maybe just get the prebuild one. Paladins runs on a potato.
For hardware, whenever Paladins isn’t having major performance issues, the game can run on average hardware without an issue. If memory serves me well, I personally originally ran the game on my oldest computer, which had a Nvidia GTX 750ti for the GPU, with I think a i5-2500 CPU, and 4GB of RAM with not many problems with performance. Later on I used a i5-6500 with 16GB RAM + a 1050ti, and now use a 1080, but a 1080 would be total overkill for a game like this.
I saw you mentioned elsewhere wanting to get into some MMORPG’s, so I suggest doing some research on your own regarding the kinds of MMORPG’s you want to play alongside Paladins and maybe seeing if you can find some benchmarks for those games and the hardware they can be ran on, as well as just checking out the minimum and recommended spec sheets for those games provided by their developers, and trying to build something within those ballparks.
There’s really no strict answer on this because games on PC can have lots of settings tweaked and changed to bring out the best performance on lower or higher end hardware. The only thing there is to do is just research things on your own. I expect (but make no gaurantees on this) that as long as you had something that can satisfy the recommended spec of whatever the most demanding game is on the list of titles you’re interested in playing, you should be able to run everything else just fine and get good performance.
Edit: I saw another comment state that Paladins is a CPU intensive game, so Im just gonna back /u/Rand0mPlayer up with a source on that. Xienen, Studio Head / Executive Producer for Evil Mojo has stated here that Paladins is more CPU intensive than GPU intensive, so you will want to make sure your CPU is most definitely a solid one to play it. Some games out there are more CPU than GPU based and vice versa, so its good to look into this when picking components.
Software wise, there’s not much off the top of my head that should have major impacts on gaming. Just don’t play through a VPN as it will give you high ping which will mess with your connection and cause delays, don’t play on a Mac because those are worse for gaming from what I understand (and the latest version, Catelina, doesn’t support Paladins at all), or Linux because Paladins isn’t supported there either. Beyond that, I can’t think of much software wise that will / should impact gameplay as long as you don’t leave too many other processes running in the background when gaming.
for software, their is really only one option windows 10, because its the best for gaming, it kinda sucks but it is what it is. for hardware i would recommend amd over intel but cpu shouldnt matter that much, the gpu i would reccomend a nvidia over a amd, but amd is also go good for price. but since money isnt the issue go nvidia.
doesn’t matter how good your pc is. the coding/servers/bad optimization is what makes the game laggy imo. i have a high end pc with latest top AMD hardware. but still fluctuate frames in some matches like crazy.
i3 9100f + Rx 580 (or gtx 1650)+ 8gb ddrr 3000mhz ram + 1 tb storage + 128 GB ssd
Can run most AAA games at 60fps with hight settings
And it’s price for performance radio is too good
Btw Rx 580 better than gtx 1650
I’d suggest going to r/PcMasterRaceBuilds since you’ll get plenty more folks who could help you get your build to your liking.
If you’re the patient kind you can snipe deals for each part depending on the month, since there are always deals for parts floating around on tech retail sites like Newegg.
The Ryzen 5 cpus are reliable for gaming, handling anything you throw at it. People tend to pair it with a GTX 2070 & 16gb of ram to make a great gaming pc that will run anything and everything.
2TB of hard drive is almost necessary if you’re planning to play AAA games with how big they’re getting, and with the price difference of just 20$ for an extra terrabyte’s worth of storage, you can’t go wrong.
A 128gb SSD will suffice if you want to boot your pc within seconds. Not required, but a great QOL improvement.
I wouldn’t recommend buying prebuilt pcs since you can save quite a bit for just putting a fancier lego set together and you don’t need to reset to remove the crap software that they put and you’ll never use.
It sounds like the OP is mostly dedicated to building a system primarily for Paladins man, so this kind of hardware is major overkill.
Are there any prebuilt PCs with really good graphics cards or do I need to just build it myself? Because I may also want to get into some MMORPGs as well.
I was looking more so for Mid-Range builds that can at least run most games at 60FPS at 1080p. Any suggestions?
it used to… now it demands a pc better than OW needs but still runs like cr*p sometimes due to bad optimization/coding/servers (imo)
Is the Steam version of Paladins better than the standalone client or Epic Games version?
anyway, if you can afford these this would be a decent mid range pc:
1.AMD Ryzen 3600 (6 core CPU)
2.b450 mini ATX motherboard.
3.AMD Radeon 580 or Nvidia 1060 (for 1080p monitor mid/high graphics setting in games). if you going for a 1440p monitor then you’ll need better graphics cards.
4.Ryzen compatable 16GB RAM @3600mhz (3600mhz is for this cpu specifically due to it goes with cpu default 3600mhz frequency pretty well. but its not mandatory. so like 3200mhz rams are ok. also even 8GB is pretty fine…)
5.500W power supply.
Yeah, but they also said “a variety of other games” and they said that price wasn’t really a problem, so I was just letting them know that the best of the best was.
There are some decent prebuilt PCs from companies like NZXT, but building your own pc is a lot less expensive and a lot more rewarding. All you really have to do is watch a few YouTube videos. If you do want to get a prebuilt though, I’d probably recommend NZXT.
A PC price range can go from $500 to +$15k, so it’s hard to say what is “mid-range” for you… it can be $1k to $7k, you know?
But AMD has really good options (better than Intel) when it comes to cost-benefit, I’d recommend you to search about the AMD Ryzen processors and AMD RX graphic card.
I also would recommend looking at the site https://www.newegg.com/ , you read the reviews and get some valuable info before buying your hardware.
It should be the same? It’s the same game just different launchers.
Yeah I saw that. My point still stands.
