Just asking what is in the title. Have any of you used Brave Firewall + VPN? If so, I’d like to hear your experiences with it and if you’ve really done much testing. I’m trying to learn more about it in general and kind of curious if people who have used it actually like it.
While trying to research it, I found some videos such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__DUo779-2c which didn’t really speak too highly of it. So definitely would like to hear anything anyone has to say about it.
I did the trial and it was fine, but so many VPN work just fine for way cheaper so
In short, you have to trust that they are one of the more private VPNs because from an end user perspective it doesn’t feel that unique tbh. And I’m not sure what the integration with brave provides that’s different from standalone Guardian. I believe you actually get less features for the same price, but I think they claim the firewall is different/better. Location changing and IP hiding is nice to have. I’ve experienced a few moments of connection loss tho and some websites have guardian IPs blocked. Hulu makes you turn off VPNs. Turning it off is annoying and then you forget to turn it back on. I’ve given myself an arbitrary 6 months to test it out. So far it’s just okay.
Lmao, I hear you. Btw, I had written in on questions. They responded to my question, “people have inquired about the security and why they should use it compared to Proton, Express, or Nord.” The answer was:
This is a very common question, but is truly not exactly a fair comparison. These other services do not operate with the content filtering and tracker blocking that we do with our Firewall. In short, we are providing two services combined while the others are stand alone VPNs. We were the first firewall and VPN service in the App Store. It works system wide so our Firewall is blocking trackers through ALL apps on your device and not just while you visit websites within the Brave browser. This means you can use multiple browsers and the apps you would use normally and still receive the same privacy and protection.
I want to look at the validity of all that. If true, it could make more sense. But when it comes to all things VPN and all, I know nothing.
They offer a buck a month and I’m in.
