Here is how you play Valorant in Mainland China

If you are like me, being an expat in China and desperately want to play Valorant, here is some ways I have found how to play Valorant in Mainland China:

  1. Using CMHK mobile data

You can get a CMHK number in Hong Kong and get the “Bay Area” plan, which will allow you to bypass the China firewall and connect to HK internet instead. Yes, you don’t need VPN if you have CMHK “Bay Area” plan. The ping I got ranging from 20-200. Sometimes the ping spike whenever you meet an enemy, but most of the time it does not happened. Another cons is the data is pretty expensive, you could pay up to HKD30 per 0.5GB.

  1. Using xunyou game accelerator

After some searching, I found a better alternatives. Xunyou game accelerator, in my understanding, is like a VPN that is specialized for playing games. The ping I got ranging from 20-160, but it is way more stable than using CMHK mobile network. The price is RMB25 per month.

Why does china have a huge firewall for video games?

I thought that Riot was bought by Tencent specifically so they could release games in China.

Doesn’t China have lots of pro teams? How do they play?

Uh I live in mainland China and all I needed to do was use a vpn to make my account and nothing else, the game works fine

My VPN will decrease your ping and get you unfiltered Internet from Singapore

China have their own internet and Chinese version of all big western websites, they have firewall not only for games, but also other internet service in general…
As for the reason, it is easier to control the flow of information that way

All I heard is that they already register the copyright for the Chinese name of valorant, no update after that

That’s also what I am wondering haha

How is it possible? Do u play with VPN? How is the ping? For me I cannot login if I don’t use one of the method above

Oh i see. Im assuming that using the hk wifi you posted this otherwise you wouldnt be able to right

u can also just make the account while your vpn is on japan

I was able to use reddit from china, which didn’t make any sense to me

That is interesting, I need vpn for this
