How do you route a phone's hotspot connection through vpn connection on phone?

First I apologize if this has been asked already but it seems that everyone else is doing something slightly different from what I’m asking.

The thing is I want a way to connect my phone to a vpn i create, which i have done. But then turn on the phone’s hotspot and whatever device I connect to said hotspot to also route through the vpn connection on the phone. It seems when I do both of these things, the hotspot connected devices are not being routed through the vpn. Is this something that just isn’t realistically possible? Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: to clarify: this is to bypass the password sharing issue with Netflix when it inevitably is implemented in the states. I’d like to be able to setup a VPN server hosted on one network and once a month, others that are using that Netflix account can remote into the network attached to the Netflix account using the phone as a VPN tether that people can connect the smart TV or other streaming device to.

PDANet software is what you need. Turn the VPN on and route other devices through it.

Easier to use GO5050.co.uk. They have YouTube at £2, same for Spotify, Apple Music/Amazon Prime+video £2, Disney + £3, Netflix £5. And there’s no need for VPN or any kind of hassle since you are just joining a family plan with your own existing account so nothing changes for you bar the lower price. They also do sports subs like NOW/TNT BT Sports £16, so on average you save around 80% on all susbcriptions through them!

That was my understanding as well. Thanks for the detailed explanation.

OS for the devices connected to the hotspot you mean? If so not really one. It would be smart TV, PS4 etc

Well. It works for what it is for. You can always upload a file to virus total if you’re suspicious.

Use NetShare, it’s free and should route all your hotspot through the vpn (though you will need to setup some stuff on the client devices as well, but it details that)
