How does the “IP Info” iOS app know my real IP address and carrier even if I have VPN connected?

How about a windows or Mac OS PC? Would apps know the real IP address of the user behind the VPN?

  1. Yes I knew that was a third party, my answer doesn’t change.

  2. This is a case by case basis, like I said this touches on networking and iOS development. When you install apps you agree to the data collection ahead of time. If you’re not ok with the data collected don’t install it. Some apps don’t care.

I’m sorry I’m just getting lost in all hypotheticals and what-ifs you’ve proposed.

To really get your questions answered youll need firmer understandings of networking, tunnels, and access control in operations systems.

  1. IPs are not bound to users, they are configured on interfaces.

  2. Depends on the app and what access you give it

Any code you run on your device can find out things about your device.
