HTB won't disconnect from VPN

This doesn’t seem like a common issue, because I can’t find anything to help with disconnecting from the VPN. Only connecting to a VPN. I know how much of a non issue this seems like lol but HTB won’t disconnect from the VPN in Kali. I’ve connected, and disconnected, from the terminal twice and still nothing. It stays connected. I’ve completely powered off my Kali vm, logged in from Chrome, and it’s still connected. Any help? Does it just take a while to disconnect? I don’t want to take up any room on the server, if I’m not actually using it. Thank you

For future reference try: ‘pkill openvpn’

Maybe you have to shutdown the target machine, I came across this problem and followed the instruction in OenVPN panel and fixed it
