Hello,

This is not a question about Norton’s security software but their utility software, and should go to a PC support and troubleshooting focused subreddit such as /r/24hoursupport, r/PCHelp, /r/techsupport, r/windowshelp and so forth.

As this is not a computer virus or malicious software related issue, this thread is now closed.

The problem is that you have Norton. You should uninstall it

My opinion for Norton is not bad. However, it is not worth $59. BitDefender Total included a free clean-up program in it. Some of you may have heard of Ashampoo. Based out of Germany. That have numerous free programs that are good. Pop-ups for upgrade happen. They do not use scare tactics. They explain the options not available in free version

I think it’s a pretty common tactic. They don’t want you to stop paying them.

why do you still have norton?

I both agree and disagree. Is Norton Utilities valid (if you download from Norton site.) Almost most, not all, available in Windows. Norton Utilities used to be good many years ago.

Does Norton use scare tactics? ABSOLUTELY! Think about how many antivirus programs suggest you upgrade. BitDefender does it but lets you turn off suggestions. McAfee is without question the worst!

Iola does the same thing. However they have gotten better after such bad reviews because scare tactics were excessive. Example: those of you who use Malwarebytes Free editions will create threat warnings. If you update it will fix the problem.

If you use a legitimate AV go by that.

Just use defender, it’s all you need on windows

Those files are too big. A virus is likely hiding data inside the games folders.

only thing that seems weird is the file sizes

This is the comment I’ve looked for.

I personally don’t understand the hate towards Norton, I’ve had them for almost a year now, and it has been protecting and working decently. Sure, not the best in the market, but absolutely not the worst either.

I have more understanding for the hate towards TotalAV, Avast/AVG, McAfee, Avira etc.

Only though, the reason I chose Norton is because I had a huge discount (Norton 360 Deluxe for $9.99 only).

Otherwise I would stick to Bitdefender because they have a free version, and I already have NordVPN so Bitdefender’s free version is enough to be honest.

you are an idiot

do not take advice from this moron

Bro is on some white flour today :skull:

Norton makes good products overall. The Utilities program they sell is not a bad product. However, 90% of the tools are available in windows. They are hard to find.

Only reason I quit using Norton was that it was not able to delete the folder the actual Trojan was in. It made the file useless. It just could not delete the folder.

I use UnLock It. It is free. It sole purpose is to delete files other software cannot. It took the folder off in 10 seconds.

I agree with you, everyone should do their own research rather than trusting random people on the internet.

After doing said research, you will find that Defender is all you need for 98% of users.

I own a couple of those games and they’re about 100 GB smaller each. And xdefiant is 35gb…

Also I’m 18 :joy:

I assume that is the thing with Norton overall, the only real ”issue” so far I’ve had with Norton is software bugs, for example it denies backup updates as soon as I reinstalled the program, or it wants me to contact support for a simple threat that should be easy to remove with a click, not any form of advanced rootkit or RAT, just a simple genetic trojan.

But overall I think Norton is pretty underrated, everyone hates them but when you ask them why they hate it they cannot exactly give a reasonable explanation, they’re just referring to ”bad reputation” and not something they’ve experienced themselves.

dude it’s obviously Norton glitching. how are you so oblivious

Because why would there be a ”virus” inside a big game folder?

Norton scores very high in about all labs. Most of the tests performed on their middle product. The ones that monitor credit scores are not needed. Most people have access to their credit scores free. Identity theft can happen no matter how careful they use Internet.

What really dampened Nortons reputation is merging with Lifelock. They advertise they will spend $1,000,000 defending you. A few years back Lifelocks CEO was hit with identity theft. So, the program can help or fail. Depending what perspective you judge it buy.

Lastly, Norton will give you a refund if Norton Security cannot remove the virus. Hold-on! So, they will give you a refund if their software cannot remove it? I will go with BitDefender!
