Initial Backup Keeps Pausing

I have downloaded the Backblaze trial. Initial backup started yesterday, and backed up some files, however, today it keeps pausing for 20 minutes. When I click Backup Now, it says producing file lists for about 90 seconds and goes back to paused state for 20 minutes.

I have tried 1 to 6 Thread, I have tried Automatic Threading / Throttle. It still keeps pausing. I have 500 mbps Up/Down connection

Does anybody else similar problem, or a solution?

Interesting! Are you running any AV or Firewall software that might be causing the hiccups? Or a VPN?

This happened to me with the following error in the log:

20190708110606 - ERROR bztransmit - PAUSING_B because bz_done_too_big, numBytes=838860977, fileName=C:\ProgramData\Backblaze\bzdata\bzbackup\bzdatacenter\bz_done_20190707_0.dat

As per Backblaze support:

That error means that the sheer number of files you have has caused our bzdone index to grow too large for today. It should resume when it rolls over to tomorrow.

It indeed resumed when it had rolled over to tomorrow.

I had ~1M small files (put your joke about node_modules folder here). This “sheer number of small files” was backed up first. I never hit the limit again during the initial backup.

I am running ESET AntiVirus, and no vpn or firewall

I have disabled ESET, still pausing

Very odd! Can you reach out to support so they can take a closer look for you → https://help.backblaze.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?
