Is it possible to change the vpn port to 80 or something similar on a UDM PRO

Hey guys,

I’m on the road alot and run frequently into wifi that use a German Fritzbox with it’s guest access rules applied. Only “surfing and email” is possible, so I cannot login to my vpn.

I’ve noticed with services like slickvpn, that they have special port 80 vpn Services - is it somehow possible to configure my udm pro that way too?

Thanks!!

Port is going to only be one thing with the built in VPN. Protocols are another instance issue. You could theoretically do ssl VPN over port 80 or whatever the ISP you’re currently using allows but the UDMP doesn’t support anything native like that

If only unifi would add OpenVPN support … You can specify a single port like 80 or 443… A big reason I added the firewalla gold into the mix using transparent bridge.

TCP 443 best to avoid scrutiny.

Is it possible to simply add a port forwarding rule from let’s say 8080 to the udms vpn port? Or is the vpn service more than just one port?

L2TP requires UDP ports 500 and 4500, and ESP IP Protocol 50. If you disable IPSec, L2TP requires only UDP port 1701. However, the end device is going to try to communicate on those ports/protocols and you wouldn’t be able to specify your requested port 8080.

You’re going to need to look into an SSL VPN and have something stood up separately from the UDMP to accomplish a VPN connection.

Thank you very much for the explanation. I’ll try to set up a openvpn in the future
