I know there were bad reputations in the past such as its founder of Mcafee scandal, annoying notification for unactivated product, bad experience in uninstallation and user interface…
My problem with it was the bloatware it installed, as well as the problem that it was next to impossible to remove it.

Im just about to unsubscribe from it. It doesn’t stop with the adware and always changes my search engine from Google to Yahoo without me even asking, even though I change it back and remove yahoo from the options for my search engine.
no, McAfee is good nowadays, why? they were bought by Intel and have massively improved since the acquisition, they now have good protection and are extremely light on resources according to independent testing
Mcafee is singlehandedly the most shittiest and worst thing to ever exist. You have to pay this super expensive price to get shitty to no protection at all. I can’t download anything without Mcafee sitting on my fucking CPU without it dying because it’s “scanning” it. Windows Defender has more protection, goddamn it!
Never had an issue with McAfee and been using LiveSafe for a few years now. No issues with computer performance or protection. Everyone who claims about McAfee being shitty but they haven’t really tested it recently.
The only problem I’ve had with McAfee is the fact they keep doing these stupid updates here and there that get rid of the “shut down computer when scan is over” option. I’m currently dealing with this yet again with the last big update they put out at the beginning of this month. Trying to find an answer as to why this happens and if it will be remedied.
I don’t enjoy having to stay up and wait 10 mins extra for my stupid scanner to scan the computer with quick scan before I go to bed. I don’t leave my PC on so I liked having the option to have it shut down after the scan if it didn’t find anything bad. 
I used to be able to do the full scan and then just let it shut down after. Now I can’t unless I want to wait 30+ minutes to go manually shut down my PC.
Otherwise, I have no complaints.

Back in the days, there were better alternatives. these days, Windows’ built-in antivirus + common sense is good enough.
I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired of the pop ups for the LAST TWO MONTHS, several times a day, asking me to resub…it doesn’t run out for 10 more days yet. I have a GD another one that I purchased 2 years ago ready to install. I learned that if you install a new one, it overwrites the other. So, if you have say, 6 months left and have a Mcafee purchased from the store to install, it overwrites those 6 months and gives you only what you installed. Crock of shit. Never getting Mcafee ever again after this shit.
It’s literally spam! You get the stupid notifications that you can’t close and the constant request to access areas. I regret the day I installed this waste of space on my computer, because now I can’t figure out how to get rid of it and there is no contact to help me.
The worst thing about McAfee Security Scan is that it displays messages like “Issues Found” and “Online Threat Detected” but won’t tell you anything about the “issues” or “threats.”

I couldn’t give a crap how many scandals John Mcafee has been in if the software was good, but as far as I’ve seen, over several years and multiple machines, and views from dozens of colleagues, Mcafee is essentially corporate malware. For many kinds of intensive tasks it grinds pefectly OK spec machines to potato level.
I work as a software developer building web services for a cloud architecture product so that probably gives you some idea of my typical use case - i.e. I’m not pissing about with sending emails and writing a few word documents or pdfs. For those kind of corporate users (i.e. pretty much the majority, at least in my company) they probably don’t see any issue with Mcafee and think it’s normal for their laptop to take 5 minutes to startup and max. cpu for 10-20 minutes after.
yes it is, i just had it and it had the PC had 5 viruses scam uninstall it because its still a virus
and no one needs some antivirus anyway we got windows defender and it ACTUALLY WORKS unlike those other shitty anti viruses
Got an email today from Mcafee thanking me for a $328.00 payment for their vpn protection. I don’t own any of there software and have not in over a decade because of the bloatware. I just filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. While there I noticed that of over 20,000 reviews they have 1 out of 5 stars.
It’s a really bad software that pissed me off. Came with the laptop.
But kept nagging and advertising their BS.
Even after I turned off whatever alerts it allowed me to.
Total piece of crap software.
Microsoft should ban such software from Windows.
I have a deep seated hatred for Mcafee, They took $95 from my account. Silly thing is I never signed up for any of their plans and hadn’t put any of my payment info into their systems. The cherry on top if it all after sitting through hours of phone calls they refused to refund me, they said they would but it never happened. Money back guarantee my ass.
