Nord not working with United Kingdom?

Hi, I just bought a NordVPN subscription as I’m out of the Uk and want to watch a few things from the Uk while I’m out the country (bbc iplayer, Netflix, amazon) but when I try to play a show on iplayer it says ‘something went wrong loading this programme’ and has error number 02001. Can anyone help?

Also on my amazon prime it says I can’t watch borat because of location, but I have the vpn set to United Kingdom

I am using it on an amazon firestick

Which protocol are you using? Your best bet is using OpenVPN (UDP). Also what’s your configuration. Don’t expect any VPN to work out of the box without setting the proper configurations.

For UK streaming, you need to connect to specific servers. Use one of the ones that are mentioned here and you access them by searching the server number in the app.

I have tried it in the past successfully. Please try this. After you connect go to whatsmyip and check if shows the country you are connecting from or uk. Sometimes vpn configuration does not route all the packages from the vpn interface.

Hi, I just had it on recommended, but changed it to openvpn (UDP) but it’s still not playing any episodes(it opens the app fine) . I’m on a ship and we have a shared WiFi (which is US IP I’m sure) and I normally stream stuff through my amazon firestick (1st gen). What configurations do you recommend?

Cheers lad, tried everything they said. Still can’t get bbc iplayer to work :frowning:

NordVPN has instructions actually, I think this would help!

Also try to turn off CyberSec and see what happens

Think the problem will be that my firestick is 1st gen. Seems like no VPN’s are really compatible with it. I can get Netflix working on my iPhone through nord, but bbc iplayer still doesn’t. Any idea about bbc iplayer?

Use OpenVPN (UDP), currently it’s the best to bypass restrictions and firewalls.

If you encounter a problem then just keep trying different servers within the UK. You can try dedicated IP address specialty server as well since people use that more for work rather than torrenting and streaming. More likely to have that work.

Where you are, do you have admin access to a router? You can put a VPN on the router and all of your devices will switch to as if you’re in the UK.

Ok I’ll give that a try with the (UDP) and trying different Uk servers.

Unfortunately I don’t have access to the router, so I’ll just need to try work with it on my device I’m using

Alright, good luck. If you need more help, I’ll be here to answer

Alright lad, I tried changing to (UDP) and have went through a few different Uk servers, but i still can’t get iplayer to work. Is there any phone setting or setting on the bbc app I need to change?

What smartphone are you using? Also disable location from the app settings. So if BBC iPlayer is requesting your location, disable it

iPhone X. I turned off location services and went to bbc and played it though the website rather than the app, and it worked that way. So it’s a start at least. Cheers for the help. Maybe there’s a block on the actual app or something

It turns out there’s specific servers to use when it comes to the app. According to Nord’s blog, you can use this button that redirects you to a specific server:

If you want the rest of the specific servers here: VPN for BBC: how to watch it securely – Live Chat, VPN Setup, Troubleshooting | NordVPN Customer Support

Try to connect to the Specific UK server then log out and then log back into the app while the VPN is running and see what happens.

I hope this helps!

I already tried that link that puts you directly to the correct server on the app. Still didn’t work for some reason tho.

I’ll have a play about with the different servers and logging out and in to the app and see if it helps.

I’ll check that link out too.

Thanks man, much appreciated for the help!

Try the OpenVPN (UDP) Obfuscated servers and see if that works!
