Hi, I use NordVPN usually the Obfuscated IP on my laptop but today it was quick connect. I turned on my TV (nord not installed) and turned on Netflix this evening. It told me to shut off my VPN or Proxy. My laptop was sleeping and not connected to the internet but it had been a few hours prior. I tried my phone. Same thing (nord installed on my phone but wasn’t open or used as far back as i can remember). Next TV, Netflix once again says to shut off my VPN/proxy. I go on my laptop and Netflix says the same thing, even with Nord disconnected from the VPN.
I ended up rebooting my modem (it’s also a router). Netflix started to work on all devices.
So, doesn’t Nord need to be installed and turned on on each device? It is NOT installed on my modem/router and I’ve never had this issue before.
Is this more likely to be a Netflix glitch, a random IP issue that was corrected with the reboot of the modem, or if Nord from my laptop actually affects the entire house and all connected devices?
Thank you! I am really confused here as I’ve had Nord about 2 years and never experienced this. Heck I’ve never figured out how to make it work on my phone apps which is why I don’t use it on my phone! Now all of a sudden the entire house was yelling about a VPN. I can’t even remember what a proxy is but to my knowledge I hadn’t done anything that would effect that unless the “quick connect” button on Nord for PC changes proxy info.
Thanks for any tips or explanations!
Nord can’t affect devices it’s not installed on, unless it’s on a router, which you mentioned isn’t the case. Since Nord isn’t installed and you’re still having trouble with Netflix, the issue might be with Netflix itself. That said, it still might be a good idea to check if there are any VPN apps on your TV, as that pop-up usually comes up with one.
Used Hola or another P2P style unblocker?
I.e a service that routes other peoples traffic through your connection - to reciprocate you unblocking via another user on the network - so your broadband IP got banned?
… this wouldn’t be Nord.
Or, does your ISP use CGNAT?
Thank you!!! That is what I had thought! The tv’s do NOT have nord or anything else installed on them. I installed everything myself and I did search just to be sure! It was the first time i’ve had that from Netflix, never mind on all my devices so I naturally wondered if Nord was somehow magical now! LOL Thanks for your answer! If there is a next time I will just reset the modem and not run from device to device wondering!!
Haha no clue what all this means! Once I reboot my modem Netflix worked as normal. So I’m not sure what the heck happened! Everything else was working normally! It was very odd but I think it had to have been a Netflix glitch since it was only Netflix on all my devices. It even said it when I switched my phone to just data which was the last thing I did. I thought for a second that Nord might’ve had a change or something that effected the whole network! Oh well, I didn’t end up watching Netflix, I was waiting on the actual tv and thought I’d toss on Netflix while I waited🤷♀️
