I’ve generally had a tolerable connection with most games I play, but for the past 2 or 3 months I’ve been unable to either connect or stay connected with others while playing Monster Hunter World on PS4. Smash U is unplayable. Had issues with Friday The 13th recently. Unable to play Absolver. Haven’t tried Splatoon or Mario Kart but I imagine I’d have the same issues.
I live in a suburb of Xi’an and use China Telecom. It was working for a while.
Anyways I met a Chinese player on Monster Hunter and asked him about his connection. He recommended something called UU Internet Accelerator (UU 加速器)and something called 联机宝 which looks like a router or something.
He mentioned UU runs on the computer.
I’m confused. First off, how would software on my computer do anything for my PS4? And I thought accelerators were at best useless and at worst malware. Should I be weary or is it worth a try?
Same with that box. Would I need to worry about it collecting passwords or anything?
Finally I use Express VPN but I can’t configure my router manually. I think I need a new router for that. Would the UU Accelerator be doing anything different from my VPN? The UU thing looks like its 12 a month, the box was 300 or so he said, and a new router will probably be that much or more. I’ve been eyeing a Linksys that’s about 1000rmb.
Any other suggestions other than trying China Unicom or China Mobiles service? I still have 9 or 10 months with Telecom.
did you end up trying it out? was looking into it as well since anthem is coming out soon. i remember playing MHW on ps4 (without any thirdparty accelerator) and i would also constantly lose connection. it was annoying as hell.
Well, to be fair there are a lot of things that aren’t especially harmful for a normal person. Weixin, QQ, etc.
But yeah, stuff like this seems somewhat sketchy to me. I don’t doubt it works, but that’s why I’m asking. If my Chinese was better I’d have an easier time finding what other people say, but even then you need to be highly suspect of reviews in any country.
And I’ve used enough computers at work to know never ever download a lot of the crap they normally use. My 2007 MBP boots up faster than their 2017 computers, and has less issues.
