PureVPN - Supported Routers

Many people prefer to set up a VPN on the router to secure and protect any connected device. This can provide great convenience as you don’t have to launch the VPN app every time you want to secure yourself online. Moreover, dedicated/static IP works the best when configured on a router.

(Since only a single user can use a dedicated IP at a time, configuring the VPN on your router enables all the connected devices to be under the same dedicated IP.)

We realize that finding a router that can be configured with your VPN can be a challenge. So we’ve gone ahead and compiled a list of routers that are compatible with PureVPN.

Note: Before configuring PureVPN on your router, do ensure that your router:

  • Is not working as a modem
  • Has PPTP and OpenVPN Client

Although we have discontinued the support for PPTP, L2TP, and SSTP protocols, we still offer some PPTP servers after multiple requests from our users. You can reach out to our 24/7 LiveChat support gurus, and they will share the server addresses with you.

Taking a quick look as some of these links, your OpenWRT instructions heading is:

How to Setup OpenVPN on OpenWRT 18.06

OpenWRT 18.06 is two major versions back and version 18.06 is no longer supported by OpenWrt. How about an update for OpenWRT 21.02

Your GL iNet instructions are even more out of date with the screen shots showing 2016 on the GL iNet GUI. The current GL iNet router GUI looks nothing like what your instructions are showing.

Creating a new post to give us out of date information is not very helpful. You can do better.

Now if you want to really be helpful, tell me how to use Wireguard on my routers!

pcWRT router. Supports OpenVPN and IKEv2.

Hi,

do you support NETGEAR Nighthawk WiFi 6 Router (RAX30)? also is it just the matter of popping uid/pwd in the router console and off you go or do I’ve to flash the firmware? Thanks

Any chance Eero routers will be supported?

I need some help, please. I configured VPN on my router and it works well, however, all adds on youtube are in the Romanian language, which is weird. It should be in English (better not to have it at all)

Hey u/eric0e, thanks for highlighting the improvements. We have raised this with our team and they have already started working on it.

As for Wireguard, we don’t have the option for manual or router configuration as of it, but this is something that we are working on and it is already in our roadmap.

Can I just say “ME too” on this OpenWRT subject. PureVPN works great when using Windows VPN setup but to configure it on a OpenWRT router everything has to be just right. One incorrect or missing setting can spell failure. I feel my server selection is correct because I can ping it and I can connect to it thru Windows 10 VPN setup but I can’t get my OpenWRT router to connect probably because of configure error. Just list the proper settings and file requirements and alot of us can take it from there. I am also using OpenWRT 21.02 which is using DSA network standards. Not true for all installations so there should be two different setup instructions. A DSA setup and a nonDSA setup.

Hey u/pcwrt, thanks for letting us know!

We haven’t tested pcWRT routers before, but we have raised this at our R&D team’s end. Once they have tested it and given us the green signal, we will update it in the list and website!

Eero

Hey, thank you for contacting us. We haven’t tested Eero routers yet. Could you please confirm if the router includes a VPN client? If it does, kindly provide your registered email address via direct message.

Thank you for reaching out. To provide you with the appropriate guidance, please share your email address with us through direct message (DM). We will use that information to assist you effectively.

Hey u/Jedicoach, our configuration article seems to be updated. But can you please send the screenshots of the error you’re getting at [email protected]? We’ll take a closer look at it and update you.
