I’m trying to watch the Dublin vs Meath game on RTE player with a VPN but it’s saying it has detected a proxy and won’t show anything, have they blocked you being able to use a VPN?

Think about it: all a VPN does is ‘tunnel’ you through to a computer in a given country. Fine, except your particular VPN provider will probably only have a few computers in Ireland. Thus, if RTE eventually work out what the IP addresses of these machine are, they can blacklist them. So it’s not that they’ve stopped their system being able to work with a VPN. They’ll have stopped it working with known computers owned by a VPN provider.
