Struggling with VPN in Japan

So yeah, Fuji TV has a pretty tight copyright on F1 in Japan, and F1 TV rather notoriously doesn’t work here. I bought Express VPN today, but a lot of the same copyright controls are still in place. I’ve reset, updated my computer, logged into a friend’s account, switched my location between the US and Europe, and now I’m at my wits’ end. Any ideas?

The only method that worked before pre season testing was with mobile payments (through google/apple store) through the F1TV App, with an account set to the country you want to buy from (independently of the card/payment method associated with the country).

Webpage requires a valid payment method, billing address and an IP address that matches.

Also, try different VPN servers, as they’re regularly also updating their known VPN server list.

Do you already have a subscription? I’ve tried Express VPN before but it didn’t work. I used Windscribe and it is also cheaper.

I bought TV PRO using Mullvad VPN in Japan and it works. I had Express prior to it and it worked too. I turned on VPN then bought a subscription via app.

Were you able to solve this? For me is also connecting via ExpressVPN to Switzerland (my account is there)… but for some reason the internet in my apartment is not super high speed so cannot watch HD…but oh well

How does Mulvad work for you? I live in Japan. Not in Tokyo.
Pretty basic set-up here. Windows 10 or 11. Several varieties of Android 12 and older. Various devices, laptops, tablets, phones.

I am already using FIrefox and Duck Duck Go. Have not yet selected a VPN. I read that Tor and Mulvad are doing a colab.

What do you think?

Cheers!
