I am researching vpn services and would like some advice on using with the TMobile gateway. How difficult is the install process? Is the security better than the gateway’s?
What exactly are you trying to do? Just use a 3rd party vpn client on your devices? Pretty much any vpn will work. If you’re trying to run a vpn server to remote into your home network it can be more complicated. You could achieve that with a router that can install tailscale or using a Firewalla router behind the T-Mobile gateway is a much easier option. Their built in vpn server can work over IPv6 to get around T-Mobile cgnat.
mullvad is a good choice
I’m looking at Nord, Surfshark and a few others. Anyone have recommendations?
I found the latter very difficult. Fortunately the only thing I needed it for (Channels DVR) now has Tailscale built in, so you only need to install the Tailscale app on your various devices that want to call home. That is very easy.
I don’t know much which is evident. Do I use the vpn on the iPad, computer,tv,etc. or install it on my WiFi network? Thanks for your patience.
Mullvad, or Proton. The ones you listed are not VPN’s to be using.
I use mullved. it was very easy to setup. It is about $60 a year I think. Get quality or don’t bother.
It depends what your goal for using a vpn is.
What’s wrong with NOrd?
Security is the main goal along with changing IP to watch blackouts
The easy way will to be buy a subscription to a vpn that has an app for each device you use. Install their app on those device and turn on the vpn when you want to use it.
Thanks for your help with this. I appreciate it.
Thank you. That’s what I have decided. Looks like it will be the easiest.
