Pretty much as above. When I use transmission it routes all my Macs traffic through Singapore? Anything that is not a new release takes days to come through. Though it was Surfshark but it’s not. With vpn on traffic is where ever I set it in Australia. With transmission on I’m in Singapore? Doing my head in, tried utorrent with the same result. Anyone got a work around?
Edit - changing to qBittorrent seemed to have done the trick. Still using surfshark and getting 10MB+ with 100mbps connection
It might be surfshark, they seem to think it’s not though. Using speedtest.com just refresh and it connects to a local server to test speed. With just surfshark on my location is set to “datacamp isp” or something similar which must be surfshark and tests speed to a local server where the vpn is set. I turn on a torrent client and then it sets the local server to Singapore. I contacted surfshark and used https://surfshark.com/check as well.
There response was,
“Oh, it looks like you’re getting rerouted to the Singapore location because of a P2P (Peer-to-Peer) connection on your device.
In order to stop the rerouting, you should exit any P2P connection type programs, like torrent programs, file-sharing programs/websites, or P2P Streaming services.
Some popular P2P programs include uTorrent, BitTorrent, AceStream, TeamViewer, eMule, VUZE, BearShare, FileZilla, and others.
After you exit the P2P program, reconnect on Surfshark and the issue should be fixed!”
