Unable to access most sites - complex fault

Hello, I have a problem with my computer.

I can’t access many sites. The few sites I do manage to access. It also happens in the Chrome browser and in Chrome Canary (which I downloaded for testing) and with Edge. Works with antivirus

Eset Smart Security Premium.

This site cannot be accessed, the connection has been reset.
You should try:
check the connection
Check the proxy server and the firewall
Runs Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

On the other hand, I can access Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, ZOOM.

Connected with a LAN cable directly to the router.

* At first I couldn’t access any website, after several actions I manage to access Google, YouTube, Gmail and several other websites (it is not clear if there is a special connection between them… sports and news websites only work in part)

What actions have I taken so far?

- Uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome.

- Restart the modem + router.

- Google DNS was set for testing (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) - different from 1.1.1.1 that I had before.

- Automatic DNS has been configured.

- The following commands were executed:

netsh int ip reset

netsh interface ipv4 reset

netsh interface ipv6 reset

netsh advfirewall reset

netsh winsock reset

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /flushdns

- An attempt was made to download ESET network protections + firewall.

- Deleting browsing history + resetting browser settings.

- Network card reset.

- Deleting a network card and reinstalling (even though it reinstalls on its own, I uninstalled and directly entered the installation I downloaded from the network)

- A system restore was performed to a restore point from two weeks ago.

- Tested with VPN - didn’t work.

- Tested with a network connection from the mobile device (hot spot via USB) - did not work.

More suggestions? I’m going crazy…

Have you set the time correctly? I couldn’t acces most sites, had trouble with mfa etc. Once i set the time manually that solved the problem.

Anyone who has encountered the same problem.

Maybe the following post will help you:

https://www.reddit.com/r/antivirus/comments/140hbme/unable\_to\_access\_most\_sites\_complex\_fault/

The solution here definitely helped me.

It will be your security software, check the web settings or disable it to see,.,.

Go here: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
make sure the HOSTS file you have isn’t blocking you. Open it with a text editor it should just be an example.

Turn off (untick) IP6 in your NIC settings.

Until now the time was set automatically and it was completely correct.

I also set it manually but it doesn’t help unfortunately.

Are you sure this is related to my case?

Some of the websites work for me, including apps.

Even though 80% of the sites don’t work.

In addition, all the devices connected to the router via the WAN browse properly.

Includes one additional stationary computer that is connected to the LAN and it also works properly.

I use Eset Smart Security Premium antivirus,

I disabled the options:

Internet access protection

Phishing protection system

fire wall

Protection against IDS network attacks

Protection against zombie computer BOTNET

Protection of online banking and payments

Secure all browsers

Nothing helps

I was able to get to the file and I didn’t see any kind of blockage. Where am I supposed to see? This is the file I see:

I did it already… unfortunately it didn’t help:

But that’s exactly the picture I sent… that’s what I did and you don’t need to use the command line

I made a mistake in the picture but I did the same guide before you sent.

The only thing that is different is that for me it appears as 9014 Bytes

It’s just a sample, the “#” keeps that line from being read. The last line isn’t going anywhere.

It’s not your problem, was a long shot.

FWIW a proper HOSTS file looks like this https://someonewhocares.org/hosts/

Because of several reasons.- I don’t know how to do this, I read that there is a software called TCP optimizer through which I can edit?
- I can’t find this setting on my router.
- Why would it suddenly change and affect my computer specifically?
- I do manage to enter websites with https security such as reddit, facebook, youtube, google.

* I could also connect to Gmail, but after another network card reset + changing the DNS to automatic, flushdns commands and winsock reset, I can’t access Gmail now either

So I didn’t understand. Is what I took the right file? Isn’t that the cause of the problem? Is that what you’re trying to say?

Or should I look for another file?

Thanks

No, you got the correct file, it’s possible for that file to blocks and sites and or DNS’s.

I use it for Malware prevention.

Just gave my 2¢

I realised,

Is it supposed to be something like this?

https://prnt.sc/Yc4lo7FhRxAo

Because I changed and apart from disconnecting and reconnecting the network adapter nothing happened. The problem exists… or do I need to edit something in Regedit?

Ok. Thank you. If you have any other suggestions for a solution, I’d love to hear them. In the meantime, I tried dozens of actions and nothing helped to solve this super strange problem.
