is it worth using it if I don’t use public wi fi?
I use ProtonVPN and I’m pretty satisfied. They do have an app for android but you can also download OpenVPN configs and use them. It’s also free if you can’t/don’t want to pay for their service. Check out /r/ProtonVPN for more information.
Hard to say which is the best. If you want quality, go for a paid option. I’ve tried many services. Currently I’m using NordVPN and I’m happy with it. They offer quality VPN with many options for a fair price. I don’t use the android app since it lacks the option to not route local network traffic. But besides that, NordVPN is a reliable choice.
How do you guys use your VPN?
Is it constantly on? Or do you turn it on for specific actions/apps/purpose?
Using Private Internet Access and it’s the best the market has to offer tbh
windscribe is pretty good , got it for 3 years(12$ on socialstack)
AirVPN 24/7 regardless
I’ve been using Private Internet Access for several years now. Very happy with it.
PIA vnp, they have apps for everything. Even chrome extensions
PIA is hands down the best.
I’ll throw my hat in the ring for Nord
ExpressVPN is consistently one of the top rated. Biggest downside is it’s quite expensive compared to something like PIA or Nord that offered decent discounts.
I’ve been a longtime Private internet access user. I tried Nord and it was more expensive and slower for me, so I went back to PIA.
I’ve used PIA (Private Internet Access) for a year and just signed up for a 2 year renewal this month. The only way for your data to be really secure is to tunnel into a country that has laws in place to protect your info (Like Switzerland comes to mind). Any that does this will probably work just fine, but the paid options are the ones probably not lying about it.
If you’re just interested in torrenting safely you can save money and just build a VPN on your own network.
If you don’t use public wifi you’ll be safe doing things like checking your bank account and doing legal things, but if you want to torrent movies then you’ll want a VPN or if you’re scared about your data being mined from Google or your ISP.
Used ipvanish and found it good. A little confusing on Linux but great on PC and Android.
I would like to suggest Slickvpn. I have been using it for a few years after switching from PIA. It costs negligible amount of money at $10/ month.
IPVanish is pretty good. I’ve used it for a few years and haven’t had any trouble.
Bettetnet is free and you barely know its running. Same with BlockThis!
If you want a free VPN service, you can try Opera VPN.
If you want a paid and good VPN, try Private Internet Access.
If you want a high security VPN service, try LiquidVPN.
I have been using PIA for a while now and I can recommend it. Great speeds, good server location selections, decent easy to use apps on all platforms, really really cheap. I haven’t faced any major issues till now.
Only downisdes- based in US (many people do not like this fact; I don’t care tbh) and Netflix is usually not accessible over the VPN (as they detect you are using a VPN).
