I’ve heard great things about Mullvad, but it’s located in Sweden, which is kind of a problem considering that they’re part of the Fourteen Eyes. I recently came across a Tumblr post recommending Trust.Zone, but I wanted to get your opinions first before deciding. Which would be better, Mullvad or Trust.Zone?
14 Eyes is not the problem you think it is. Here’s a comment from u/daiqo with more info:
Mullvad is one of the only VPNs I can proxy physical mail an envelope of unmarked bills and get service. Most other services need a credit card or some unique identifier. So if you’re truly paranoid, they got you. Personally never heard of Trust.Zone, so no idea if they are good or not.
Wtf is Trust zone ? Imao
Mullvad will shut down their service of they are forced to log.
You may have a hard time finding a reliable, cost effective VPN that supports P2P with port forwarding, outside of the 14 eyes. But, I highly recommend you check out thatoneprivacysite.xyz, and see their VPN chart to find an option that may work for you!
Legal concerns aside, I subscribed to Mullvad for torrenting but I still could not seed (downloading was never a problem for me) despite their claim that they help with port forwarding, so I had to buy seed box too.
I was using Mullvad 2 years, but with the last blackfriday deal I was switching to trustzone . So, I am able to compare both. That’s my conclusion:
- Trustzone is better with wireguard speed than Mullvad. However, if we compare OpenVPN, I would prefer Mullvad.
- Mullvad is better with streaming. Trustzone unblocked Netflix with dedicated IP only
- Trustzone is outside 14-eyes countries list, located in Seychelles.
- Mullvad support team are 24 hours avaialble, however, you can wait for a reply from trustzone for a few hours.
so, for me it’s 50/50
so, why I have choosen trustzone?
that’s a price - I pay $1.86/mo. That’s 3 times cheaper than Mullvad
So I’ll be fine if I choose either one then?
With a name like that, it can only be legit, right?
They have wireguard, works pretty well. By some reason I get higher speed with their wireguard protocol than their native software.
the terrible thing is poor streaming with trustzone, their servers are not optimized for it.
Port forwarding with Mullvad was super easy for me. What do you mean by despite them claiming to help with forwarding? They have a guide on the website that seemed easy to follow to me. I wouldn’t mind trying to help you out if you’d prefer to get rid of the seed box. Although TBH I’d probably use a seed box anyway if I weren’t quite so strapped for cash as I am currently.
Thanks!! , I thought it was to be kind of automatic, lol. So I followed the website instructions now as you said though so far with no luck , Mac terminal saying command not found. I guess I’m just doing something wrong, will try again later
That said, having used seedbox for a few days I actually have become totally convinced… I decided to test evo seedbox with 5 euro plan, already used most of the allocated space but what’s more important is that my avistaz rating is now as much as 5,5 instead of 0.1… can keep up with the latest dramas thank God
Damn, a 5 euro seedbox! That I can definitely justify! I’ll look into it. If they offer referral links, I’d be happy to use yours in case I decide to give it a try.
I haven’t heard of that tracker either, I’ll try to give it a look. Is it good for anime? I’m mainly interested in anime for adult audiences. Not hentai, but just not stuff targeted for children or teens.
EDIT: Oh, and I’m running windows. It was as simple as picking which cities to use port forwarding with on the website, then ticking a box in the app. It sounds like it’s more involved under OSX
2ND edit: stumbled across this potential solution: add -p to your command.
No idea what it actually does, so use your best judgement. Let me know how it goes!
Sure, thanks for the suggestion, here’s the referral link Evoseedbox | Premium Seedbox At affordable price |20 GBPS Seedboxes - but as I said, it’s only 150 gb so kind of requires some management, as to what to keep there and what not, me I already used 100 but they went to the latest and most popular releases only to keep seeding and maintain the ratio.
(I actually first wanted to buy dedi seedbox, but they their smallest plan keep being sold out)
So Avistaz is #1 tracker for Asian dramas and shows only ( I got invitation on their discord) but they have a separate torrent for anime https://animetorrents.me , if that helps? Let me know… Me with avistaz i have found all the k- and c- dramas that were on my list for quite a while… I would’ve had to subscribe to 4 to 5 Korean, Chinese/Taiwanese services to watch them… lol no way.
It sounds like the turnaround is pretty much the same for Mac (thanks for the help!) but when I replace 5555 with the port number in the terminal command it says there’s no such command. You actually made me think though I try it first on my family member PC, and then come back to try it on Mac…
Whoops, I missed it’s only 150 GB. Well, it still might be a good way to test out the concept, and to get a ratio boost like you are describing. I’ll try to look a bit more into what alternatives I can find for around the same price, then use your referral if I go with evoseedbox.
I saw another stackexchange thread mention that you’d get that error if the nc function wasn’t installed in the first place. I believe that was for Linux though, but it might be worth looking into if you feel like you’d want to go back to Mullvad. Let me know how it goes with a different PC.
Ah, sounds like avistaz is not currently something for me, then. Asian drama is still pretty out of scope for me, so to speak. I’ll try to sign up for the animetorrents waitlist instead, thanks for the recommendation. I think I did know it by name already, but I never realized they use a waitlist.
