Whale watchers will search for humpback and fin whales off the coast of Virginia Beach. You may see brown pelicans, northern gannets, double-crested cormorants and other sea birds, all of which make a dramatic show while feeding on schooling fish.

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) proudly announces the most important exhibition in its history, “Picasso:  Masterpieces from the Musee National Picasso, Paris.”  The VMFA is the only museum on the East Coast to host the exhibition as it travels on a seven-city international tour.

Celebrate spring with A Million Blooms — offering a million ways to have fun in the Garden and featuring a spectacular succession of blooms including daffodils, cherry blossoms, tulips, iris, roses and peonies. New this year A Million Blooms kicks off with Orchids Galore! — a spectacular display of orchids in the Conservatory. (March 12 – April 10).  The celebration continues with millions of blooms throughout the spring season: daffodils, cherry blossoms, tulips, irises, roses and peonies. Highlights include special events such as Easter Weekend, Mother’s Day, the Spring Plant Sale and plant shows, and activities in the Children’s Garden.

This annual March event features a continuous working demonstration of the traditional maple syrup making process. Park staff present regular talks explaining the syrup making process and history. Kids can enjoy free games, stories and crafts in a large heated tent. Visitors can warm themselves beside a roaring fire while listening to live music in the lakeside pavilion.

The Frederick area is fortunate to have three such highly-talented organists as these! Dr. Wayne Wold is nationally known not only for his organ-playing, but for his knowledge of Music Theory, Composition, and advanced Organ Pedagogy. He will play works from the French Baroque. Dr. Elizabeth Krouse has spent most of her impressive career teaching, performing, and composing in Colorado and Texas. She now brings her skills to the beautiful Basilica at the St Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine. She will play works of the German Baroque. Steve Kalnoske is getting national recognition for his amazing ability to improvise. He will play some Baroque works and then demonstrate his improvising skills at this thrilling concert.
