404 not found in tor browser

Other web browsers are working properly, if i want to access some site via tor it shows 404 error. I’m not going into darknet obviosly, i want to test this fancy vpn which is included (at least they said tor has some nice vpn).

How can i fix it? I have tried all 3 security options (low, medium, high).

If it’s giving 404 or webpage not found. It means you’re not on the tor network. Which platform you on. PC? Android?

Tails is Linux based. You could create a liveusb. That might work. Or use vm. Whichever method you prefer. As for vpn. It’s not technically a requirement but it’s good to have on stuff like this.

Edit. It’s just like mounting any other vm os. But you gotta set the bit to 64 bit. It won’t work with 32 and it needs to have 2048mb ram. Here’s a technical guide with what I’m trying to explain. It’s a piece of cake to setup https://tails.boum.org/doc/advanced_topics/virtualization/virtualbox/index.en.html

Using tor to install large files is not recommended as the speed could be quite atrocious.

Dude. You’re saying that? He wants to access a site but it’s giving him an error. That’s because he’s not on tor. Access an onion link of a regular browser like chrome and see if it let’s you. That’s what he’s experiencing. facepalm I’ve been there. Tails is ready set with the required browser and such.

I’m on PC.

After changing identity and restarting browser it started to work. But now it says that TOR is not allowed for free downloads - firstly i want to test TOR by bypassing download limits on a few sites, but it seems they know that i’m using TOR.

It’s HTTP 404 Not Found. That means he successfully talked to a webserver and the webserver returned that code.

If you have no Internet connection, have no connection to the Tor network, or are trying to access .onions without a properly-configured browser, it is impossible for you to see a 404. That error comes from a webserver, which you have no chance of communicating with if any of those things are true.

/u/thefinn93 is right.

This is how I set it up. Get tails. A free os built for tor and put that on vm. Never ever ever use tor on your own machine or you could be In some deep shiz. The fbi might find you or hackers might trace your route. Use tails on vm. It’s ready and set to go on tor.

he’s talking about the vpn. It’s playing nice with y browsers but not with x.

I have a plan to use pendrive with linux on it, but it’s when i will go deeper. I don’t think anyone will do something if i use TOR for normal web.

Edit

The question is how to set up tails on virtual machine.

I doubt the FBI gives a shit about one person downloading music illegally, they’re going for the site not the users, unless it’s a CP site.

He didn’t state. Apparently it’s “fancy” he’s not using the stock onion vpn.
