Antivirus with VPN recommendations?

Hello, I’ve been using Norton that came with my pc but recently it started to block Fan Control.Do you guys have any recommendations for an antivirus that has a VPN feature?

Hello,

For questions about VPNs, try asking in r/VPN.

As far as the actual programs go, there is no one “best” program, as each has its plusses and minuses. Performance, system resource usage, and detection rates change with every update, and those occur multiple times throughout the day.

So, any of the programs listed in the wiki at https://old.reddit.com/r/antivirus/wiki/index#wiki_anti-virus_.28aka_anti-malware.29_developers would be a good starting place to find what is best for you.

  • If you are looking for a free program, check out the ones with a check mark (“:check_mark:”) in the Free Version? column.

  • If you are looking for a paid program, check out the ones with a check mark (“:check_mark:”) in the Paid Version? column.

Also be sure to read the https://old.reddit.com/r/antivirus/wiki/index#wiki_securing_your_computer section towards the end for additional tips for protecting your computer.

I am personally a fan of getting a different VPN from a different provider than your primary AV.

For example, NordVPN’s Threat Protection Lite is a DNS/IP based blocklist. If you use Bitdefender TrafficLight in your web browser your get a second DNS/IP based blocklist.

If a person uses the Bitdefender VPN with Bitdefender Trafficlight, you are essentially using the same blocklist 2x.

On top of that Bitdefender has daily bandwidth limits whereas VPNs like NordVPN have no daily limit.

IMHO, it’s a better buy and IMHO better security to get a VPN with dns blocking, like NordVPN, and pair that with the blocklists provided by AV providers.
