Originally my orientation would have been fine as well as the registration date but with some unknown circumstances i am going to be over seas specifically Thailand during my registration time. Im not sure how strong the internet will be over there so im here to ask if i am cooked when i register for my classes and if i am what do you guys recommend me to get a better chance at securing classes
I’m an international student so what you have to do is follow this article https://portal.ed.unc.edu/resources/connecting-to-vpn-for-off-campus-access-to-network-resources/
So every time you want to use connect Carolina turn on the VPN it’s a new policy that they started last spring
In addition to using a VPN, also consider going to a business center or a coworking space with high speed internet.
Ok i had to do this while in rural Costa Rica and I had to get a VPN to connect to USA servers. I just did a free trial and it worked.
A VPN makes it slower u don’t need a VPN because UNC is a public university globally im literally in China and I accessed UNC and connect Carolina without a VPN
What does the von do for you exactly? Did it allow you to connect to the unc chapel hill internet or do you need to be in unc servers to apply for classes

you need to install Cisco AnyConnect i believe.
A VPN masks your IP address and makes websites like ConnectCarolina think you are in Chapel Hill. It doesn’t connect you to UNC wifi. If your local WiFi is slow/unreliable a VPN won’t make it faster.
I wouldn’t worry about internet speeds in Thailand unless you are going to a remote location.
use cisco anyconnect. the instructions to install it are linked above
