I’m looking for a digital security bundle for me and my girlfriend.
I’ve been keeping an eye on AURA, but they are only for Americans.
I’m looking for a similar bundle (vpn, identity theft protection, fraud protection, password manager, and spam list removal — no need for parental control), but I didn’t find much.
I would strongly recommend using well known products vs. putting all of your ‘eggs into one basket’ as it were. Many of their offerings are pointless for most people, the few that are useful (password manager for example) are available elsewhere from reliable sources.
I use KeePassXC. Bitwarden is well respected (currently).
For most I see no reason to use a VPN, it provides a really handy place to execute a man-in-the-middle attack so you’d better trust the provider.
‘Identity Protection’ as a service is a BS product. They’ll waste a ton of your time warning you about ‘credit activity’ just to keep their customers convinced the ‘service’ actually does something useful. They sell FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt), don’t fall for it.
The first step in security is defining the risks, don’t let a company selling you products do that for you…
IMO no. The name of the game these days is bundling crap with a few bits that may be useful and overcharging for it.
Like I said, YOU need to know your risks and mitigate appropriately. Or you can overpay for unneeded services and hope that the useful stuff covers it.
So… basically, a VPN in best for watching Netflix in other countries and a password manager is not necessarily less risky if it keeps the passworda on the cloud (such as Dashlane) as opposed to one that keeps it locally (Bit warden that can help you create a local server/“cloud” for this)
