I’ve connected using the Surfshark app on Windows 11.
Going to any of the media on this page

works fine on Chrome, but on Firefox, as I’m told the content is not available in your country.
Has anyone had a similar problem? This is a new laptop, and I didn’t have this issue a few weeks ago using Firefox on my old machine.
FYI - I use uBlock Origin on both browsers, but disabling this in Firefox has not fixed the issue. Neither has going into an Incognito Windows in Firefox, as I’m still told the content is not available in my country.
Hi there! You should be able to use all websites and streaming services when using a VPN, provided you are not violating the terms of the particular website or streaming service. If you follow the service provider’s or website’s terms but still cannot reach them when using Surfshark, please get in touch with us at [email protected].
I have exactly the same issue with Firefox. Ublock origin on both.
Chrome getting more and more annoying
I think it might have been adding the Surfshark extension to Firefox, that interfered with the Windows Surfshark application working correctly.
To fix the issue, I did the following…
-
Backup my bookmarks to a .html file, using the Bookmarks Manager (Shift + Ctrl + o)
-
Disable all extensions (unfortunately this didn’t fix the issue)
-
Remove any VPN extensions in Firefox (I had a PureVPN and a Surfshark extension)
-
Create a new Firefox profile, by using about:profiles in the address bar
-
Switch to the new profile, and test if the Windows VPN connection to London now works (it should do)
-
Import the .html file containing all your bookmarks
-
Enable your disabled extensions one by one, checking as you go that iPlayer still works (sometimes it take a few attempts to play a video)
-
Close any windows you have open in the original profile, and Remove the old profile
Good luck. I hope this works for you.
