Best VPN for Mainland China

Anyone have any recommendations that worked recently on their chromebook in China? Last time I was there I used Astrill VPN on my Android phone but had to constantly switch servers as the government blocks the traffic quickly.

Thanks.

I’ve been using NordVPN in China for the past year and a half on my Chromebook. No complaints. You’ll run into servers that don’t work but for the most part it’s fine. Enable obfuscated servers and you’re good to go. Ignore the vpns being illegal in China comment. While officially that’s how it may seem, it’s not enforced at all. Even my Chinese friends use a VPN without issue.

I’m in China for a few weeks and I’ve been using thunder VPN both on my phone and Chromebook. It works OK but there are times when it doesn’t

Most of the Chrome extensions of the big VPNs don’t support obfuscated servers, unfortunately. I’m not aware of one that does, personally. Could try asking in r/chinalife.

I would NOT recommend using a VPN. It can be illegal and the authorities can arrest you. Their relationship with the U.S. isn’t so hot so be careful with that too. It’s always good to check https://travel.state.gov for travel advisories, and ways to get to an embassy so you remain safe. There are any instances people getting arrested for allegedly “spying” but that’s just a cover up for “we hate the U.S.”

Anyway other than that I would recommend you try krynonymous app see if that works for you.

Does that actually work? Full access to play store, google apps, gmail, etc.?

I would strongly consider this if that is the case.
