Bypassing the school network

Hello fellow teenagers!

I have been at my school since Year 9, and I am currently half way through year 12. For the past 3 years I have been trying to find ways around our school’s internet firewall that blocks almost everything.

It blocks games, social media (including Reddit), duckduckgo, numerous web-based apps, and even sites on things like abortion (for school projects)!

I am also taking Year 12 software development, and many regard me to be the best programmer / “hacker” (I don’t really know any hacking but I put some green text up on my cmd screen so everyone thinks I’m a god), and they have asked me numerous times to find a bypass to the school filter.

I have tried.

The school uses a SmoothWall firewall, and it seems they have the settings maxed out. Sometimes, it even blocks Google for no reason.

My question to you fellow noblemen, have any of you found a way to bypass the strictest of strictest school networks? Most of the time I only try and get past the filter because I need to gather data on a sensitive topic, like Israel (e.g. should Israel give more autonomy to Palestine) but this is of course blocked for “Extremism reasons”. -.-

Things I have tried so far:
VPNs
Home-based VPN
Web-based VPNs
Proxies
Changing my IP
Trying to hack SmoothWall UI
Using Google translate to translate webpages

TL;DR:
School network is very strict, any ideas on how I can get passed it?

We use a chrome extension ultrasurf at school, does the trick nicely. Not sure if it’d work for you.

We just use a VPN at my school works wonders!

Has anyone thought to talk to administration about the fact that it’s too strict? That it’s not allowing you to do research for school projects?

My school uses this same program. If you find anything hmu. I could do with some bypasses as well.

Actually hack it then

Wat school blocks Google?? What search engine do they use??
