Don’t know how I’m being detected torrenting with VPN

Second time recently I’ve been caught downloading torrents; I use privateinternetaccess (PIA) was definitely active prior to downloading. Still got a warning my ISP (FiOS). I checked to make sure my address was changed and it was. Any ideas what’s going on?

Did you bind your torrent client to the VPN?

Hey there! It looks like you might have forgotten to bind your VPN interface to your qBittorrent. To ensure your torrent traffic is securely routed through your VPN, check out this guide: Guide: How to Bind VPN Network Interface to qBittorrent

While using a kill-switch is a good step, it may not provide complete protection. Combine it with binding your VPN network interface to qBittorrent for added privacy and security. Stay safe and enjoy torrenting!

See the pinned post on this sub — it’s pinned for a good reason!

Stay safe

For the cost of a VPN, get yourself a VPS in a copyright disaffected country, and ssh tunnel to a torrent daemon on the VPS.

If you torrent on android, use biglyBT

You can use the torrent check on ipleak.net to find out if it works.

If the binding didn’t help, you could also try looking up the IP on a site like IPQS to see if there’s any leaks.

I don’t think so. I’ll give that a try. Thanks.

Yes and kill switches sometimes are too slow to react.

That’s a common reason people get detected. Where the VPN may have a blip or disconnect your for a couple seconds, the torrent client will fall back to the unsecured connection.

Good point I’ll try that out. Thanks a lot.
