I was getting 10mb/s download over my openvpn connection, for some reason this is now never going over 5mb/s. I’ve tried multiple different VPN connections and ports but no change.
Yet when I connect to my other vlan (not going thro openvpn) I’m getting up to 20mb/s download.
The only change I’ve had was upgrading to 2.6. Is there a known/similar issue reported or could it be something else.
Hi,
Yes I have a static WAN which uses a wired fiber connection. Also a 5G WAN, which is where I am having the issues.
Thanks for everyone input
When I run a speed test direct on my 5G router I’m hitting 250mb/s DL. When I do the same test on VL30 which uses the 5G router as it’s WAN it’s very similar.
The confusing part is when downloading on my VL30 I’m getting 20mb/s file download (which is correct). When I move my usernet download to this VLAN it’s always capping around 5mb/s. The same as when on the VPN interface, which had me thinking it’s the usernet account, which it isn’t.
I was wondering if there were hardware settings that may cause these issues that may have been changed when upgrading to 2.6
It’s definitely an issue somewhere as I was rock solid 12mb/s download over VPN on usernet for a long time.
•SOLVED•
After weeks of trial and error, blaiming router, pfsense, VPN etc etc.
The issue was the cable from my NAS to my switch. I pushed each cable in and gave a little shake and instantly my downloads shot up to 17mb/s where it was limiting around 5mb before.
I only decided to check this after seeing post online (few years old) where someone said it could be a cable.
Dam, sometimes the simple steps get missed for more complex ideas.
•SOLVED for real this time•
Ok, it wasn’t the cable, it went back to 5mbs
I updated my sabnzb docker and it was still at 5mbs. So I come off the VPN onto direct 5g VLAN and 33mbs DL. I’d tried this many times before but since updating sabnzb it rocketed up. I went back to VPN VLAN and again down to 5mb. So I messed around with VPN connections and it’s sitting solid now at 18mbs.
It had to be VPN connection and an old SABNZB docker.
Thanks for everyone I put.
You may want to try playing with the MSS values to see if that changes anything.
I thought that, but when I set my usernet download to use my normal WAN connection it’s still hitting around 5mb.
This has me thinking it’s now not the VPN connection.
