Every browser except chrome is blocked on school student computer

Every browser except chrome is blocked on school student computer.

The reason is likely that the (lazy) administrator isn’t foolish enough to require users to use IE, and makes use of Windows GPO to set up stuff like proxies and custom certificates (Chrome uses Windows’ settings, Firefox doesn’t trust Windows and has its own way of configuring this).

Can you rename firefox to chrome.exe ? That used to be a workaround with windows 2000 domains & GPO.

Could you possibly run Firefox on a USB stick, or from the school’s network drive? That works for some university scenarios.

Going out here on a limb here, but maybe you should use a school computer the way the school wanted you to.

Tbh, I think you should just complain about it. This is not okay. Even if you find a workaround, all other students will be forced to use Chrome.

Try installing Firefox from portable apps

Well, since STUPID chrome is a spyware, maybe they just wanna spy on what you do? idk just an opinion.

It’s probably because Firefox default install path is in Program Files and lazy administrators block users to install in that folder.
Since Chrome installs in AppData by default, is “allowed” to install/run.

Does it work if you “install” Nightly from a .zip file?

Might be a good time for Tails Linux.

See if you can use FrontMotion Firefox, the version that supports Windows Group Policies. Even if it doesn’t work, request it from the school administrator. No reason to deny the request since it supports Windows security.

And that’s why we love ti.

This could get him into trouble. I remember I got shouted on ten or twelve years ago for plugging in my MP3 player.

As much as I hate windows, I wouldn’t risk hacking charges. High school administrators aren’t always the most rational people.

That’s what I did. Remember it being quite useful.

…I brought Halo on a usb, gave it to the mates, and we’d multiplayer our way through our Business Management course. No hacking probs. YMMV

The school I work at requires an administrator password to boot from USB

Lol delete the windows partition

If the school actually listened to these complaints I’d be impressed.
