Hi, so, I’m pretty clueless about computers, I just got a Laptop for gaming and personal use and whatnot but I’m also going to be using it for school. Like I said I’m pretty clueless about all of this and therefore pretty naive and downright dumb sometimes when it comes to those pop up ads and fake download buttons, was wondering if anyone could recommend any good vpns/ad blockers, I don’t mind spending a few dollars, but I’d prefer a free or cheap option, I just feel like its only a matter of time before I get some kind of virus and I’m not trying to deal with a messed up computer all school year smh. Mullvad is a good vpn, and for browsers firefox + ublock origin works fine. note a vpn won’t block ads.
For an adblocker, uBlock Origin works pretty well for everything other than Twitch ads. Available in most if not all browser’s extension store.
Get uBlock, use your common sense, google some cybersecurity basics. You’ll be fine
Also, make a point of not buying things, I’m not talking piracy, just don’t waste money on a VPN you don’t need
You will still get ads with a VPN alone. Use an ad blocker addon
