Having Trouble Accessing Many Sites

I can not access Amazon, most of my financial institutions, and some other sites I like to use while my PIA VPN connection is active. This is kind of the whole point of having it, to access these things more securely and privately. I am very open to this being user error. Maybe I am missing the whole point and VPNs are only useful for porn and bootleg movies? Below are the links to my settings and some info about my setup. Please excuse my basic terminology as well. I would really appreciate it if you guys/gals are able to point me in the right direction and thanks in advance.

Sometime you need to change vpn server because someone else on the same server has been doing naughty things to the target site.

Some banks may block vpns on purpose because the bank’s IT are idiots. Shadowsocks may get around this. You can turn that on in the PIA app.

I apologize for the inconveniences this issue has caused you. While connecting over the WireGuard protocol using the US West server, I can verify I am able to access Amazon successfully. Try changing over to the WireGuard protocol to circumvent this block.

With that being said, since financial institutions typically want to know who is accessing their services, they will block VPN connections from accessing their site. Usually they provide extra protection to ensure their users data is secure.

We recommend using financial institutions and other sites you are having trouble accessing while the VPN is enabled, in a different web browser thats bypassing the VPN tunnel. To setup split tunneling on your device, please reference the following support article.

I guess they changed how their ad blocking service MACE works and that makes browsing some sites painfully slow. PIA service in general has gone down the drain. I’m also looking for a suitable provider that offers port forwarding and Openvpn configuration.

SOLVED: Switched to Express VPN. It is Super fast, connects to all sites I tried including my banks and Netflix in other regions. I wanted to stay with PIA, I have been here a while and it was comfortable. It is just not able to do what I need. Fussing with my VPN everyday just became a chore for me.

I’ve swapped over to TorGuard and have been extremely pleased. I still have about 2 years left on my PIA sub.

Same here, it seems to have stopped working, tried using it for two streaming sites and get the ‘this is not available in your region’ message.

Going to cancel my subscription.

Heading over to west coast servers gets me a high ping. I dont have time to sit there and try dozens of servers to get one not blocked. I appreciate your input but I ended up just cancelling my PIA service.

I thank you for your reply but I am just tired of constantly fussing with my VPN. I don’t have the time to try out dozens of servers until I find one that works then dealing with it’s high ping. I just had to move on to another provider.

I am in the same boat with my prepaid subscription but it is becoming unuseable as of late. I’ve noticed the slowness too, it wasn’t like that when I first signed up with them. Hoping its just growing pains with their new advance network rolling out. But if I can’t access so many of my conmo sites then its pointless to have.

I will check it out thank you

Im sorry you feel this way and have made these changes. I referenced the US West server because I saw you were connected to this server location in your settings. I have cycled through our locations and was able to get Amazon working on majority of the server locations. With that being said, I understand your stance and again apologize for the issues you ran into.

I’ve had trouble on both Win10 and macOS until I completely reinstalled PIA on some machines and then the problems went away for the most part. Give it a shot and report back if it helps.

I have had no trouble at all, speeds and pings great to various VPN servers etc.

I will report back and as it turns out I use it on both my PC and my iMac.

No luck same issues on Mac and PC

The only other thing I can think of is switch around servers until it works, otherwise I would report to PIA the exact sites that don’t work to let them now they’re being blocked maybe.
