I’ve been given the task at work to become one of the leads on our VPN system. I have my CCNA. CCNA did no prepare me to become a VPN master.
I’m not sure what book to buy or cert to study for that covers VPN.
Our VPN is an FTD managed through firepower. Can anyone recommend training material?
CCNA doesn’t really cover firewalls or VPN other than helping you understand the types of VPNs and what they are. Go review your material if you forgot that stuff.
Why aren’t you talking to your coworkers or managers? Your work should provide methods for training, otherwise go pick up an FTD book or course online somewhere.
Install opnsense on something (x2 if you don’t just want to practice road warrior type setups)
Setup some vpns following the guides in the wiki
IPsec,
openvpn
Wireguard etc
Use your cellphone and hotspot for 1 internet connection and your home network for the other.
Hit the reddit opnsense thread if you get stuck.
For general understanding of VPN.
Talk to your peers already in the job.
Familiarize yourself with the current VPN configuration.
Obtain learning material for the hardware/software VPN vendor you use. Cisco has plenty.
Which version covers it?
