All antivirus is trash bloatware, just be aware of what you’re doing and what sites you visit and you’ll never need it. Plus windows defender at this point does more than any antivirus really ever has in terms of protecting your device, plus it isn’t bloatware like antivirus is
Malwarebytes isn’t fully trash, sometimes it can be helpfull but it worse than most antiviruses.
Malwarebytes has both good and some not so good traits. It is strict working with any other Full Antivirus on your system. If say you attempt to install BitDefender, it will do everything it can to stop it. If you have BitDefender already installed and attempt to install MB, it states you must uninstall BitDefender first.
Then again, have more than 1 security software active on the same system can wreak havoc. Most of the time they fight like wild dogs with each other.
I use BitDefender Total. As a second opinion, I use Norton Power Eraser. Lastly, Malwarebytes does not have a firewall integrated into its software.
Malwraebytes is decent. There are a few better ones out there. I personally use AVG and have for over 10 years with no issues at all. You choose what you want to use though. Do some research and choose what you feel will be the best for you. Do not just go off what some random people say most of them are either paid to say what they ate saying or are not educated enough in the various antivirus/ firewall suites out there.
Happy cake day.
I don’t think that it’s because Malwarebytes is trash. Lots of people use free antivirus so they usually recommend the free tier of Kaspersky and Bitdefender most of the time. Malwarebytes Free only provides a secondary scanner which is what I’m guessing. So in other words, I feel like people see Malwarebytes as just a scanner instead of a complete third-party antivirus protection which is why people don’t usually recommend it often.
what’s the best? its for my older moms PC. she does general web browsing and thats about it…but shes a clicker!!! so I wanna get her a good antivirus
funny enough, nutella is in these comments
He gets down voted most of the time.
3 - 5 years? That’s quite off. I think the worst thing they did was release v2.0, the stupid modern over-simplified interface, and that was in 2014, many years after I was recommending it to all my associates. If I had to guess, I became a fan by 2008, as at the time MWB was the only free scanner I found to include rootkit removal, but it was well known before that.
Moreover, I want to chime in that “established names” is a horrible angle to look at, since long establish names (c. 1995) such as McAfee and Norton are now deservedly mud.
gonna check this out. who would you recommend for an antivirus for an older (65+ year old) person who basically just web browses…but likes to click on things? I had bit defender and seems to have worked. I saw Pirate Software mention malwarebytes recently during a big hack on the game Apex Legends and was gonna give them a try.
if you want to make comparisons on YouTube without spending time reading articles. look at people who work in cyber security not youtube guy who uses AI voice to speak and who has 1k sub’s. an example for a YouTube channel The PC Security Channel because he works in cyber security so he knows the differences between products well.
antivirus and antivirus accessories
the free version or trial?
man you use it like a MSERT
hope it’s ok if I say something, but I can somewhat vouch for this comment, I say somewhat since I haven’t tried out malwarebytes. but as someone who also used norton and then recently switched to windows defender, defender caught two trojans while norton didn’t detect anything. thought I would give my two cents since this comment was a bit of a wakeup call for me to try out malwarebytes lol
edit but I finally tried out malwarebytes premium and it’s pretty good so far. haven’t seen a tank in performance or anything but overall i had one detection. norton actually didn’t flag anything when I had it a few months ago so this is a nice upgrade
keylogger named Norton
Fun fact: every so often they’ll extend free premium to you for a month so periodically you can go and really check some stuff out. they don’t count how many times they extend it to you either, but there’s a significant gap in time between free premium periods.
but free version is not real time right? im using malwarebytes to scan but im turning it off and let windows defender do its job, am i doing the right thing?
Yep, Malwarebytes has turned into doucheware practically overnight. I got the same problem where I specifically declined the new version install, and it installed anyway, without any notice. Then, I had to use a separate program (Malwarebytes support tool) to uninstall, because the default uninstall wouldn’t work. The failure to uninstall using the conventional method is, I’m sure, an intended “feature” rather than a bug.
If any “company men” from Malwarebytes are reading this – word gets around.
The common-sense approach is being selective about who you fuck in case someone has an STD. Antivirus is using a condom. They are not mutually exclusive.
It’s obviously for the best to take a very careful approach to downloads off the internet and such, but it’s also a good idea to have an antivirus program on the sidelines just in case your better judgement fails.
