Keepsolid VPNUnlimited and qBittorrent "stalled" but works with uTorrent

Hey everyone, I can’t seem to figure out what I am doing wrong here.

I’ve used Keepsolid’s VPN Unlimited for a few years now and like the service as my 1st line of defense. I stick with eastern european servers and there is one for torrenting which I use for this purpose. I’ve used uTorrent for as long as I can remember.

As a 2nd line of defense, I looked into bunding my connection. uTorrent has a rather clunky way of binding to a connection and I see that qBittorrent is way better at binding to a connection without having to constantly change the IP address in settings (although that option is there).

My problem is that every transfer on qBittorrent is “Stalled” and never actually proceeds. I have tested without the VPN (used Big Buck Bunny torrent) and it works just fine. I reached out to Keepsolid and they suggested disabling DHT which didn’t change anything. I did add a port forwarding entry to windows firewall but that has not helped.

Wondering if anyone here has any advice for me on getting qBittorrent going.

Try one of these

  1. reset windows firewall back to it’s base form and do a clean reinstall of qbit
  2. Check if your storage is full
  3. In advanced settings iirc try changing around it’s connection
  4. Have you tried with another vpn a few of the bigger ones offer trial periods or refund periods
  5. Clean install windows

Thank you very much for the input.

  1. I did a clean reinstall of qbit and still the same. I removed any entries that were there for qbit in windows firewall.
  2. I have more than 100GB free space so good there
  3. I checked all the settings I could think of
  4. My VPN works for uTorrent so I’m not sure what would be different here
  5. this seems nuclear so I’ll hold off on this if nothing else works out
  1. Nah I mean like legit just factory reset your network rules and delete any entried in regedit and any files about qbit
  2. Maybe it’s your vpn acting weird as hell sometimes it happens
  3. Drop your settings
  4. If you use Windows, and you have a Command Prompt window, you can do ‘ipconfig /all’ to see what network adapters are defined, to see which one corresponds with your VPN. Then check that your qbittorrent options have the right value in the network adapter field. Found that on an old reddit post
  5. Have you tried testing out the other servers in keepsolid?
