No global navigation when using Viva sites?

Hi,

I got a question from a user, who created a SharePoint site but appeared to not have the global navigation experience.

Why is the global navigation missing, what is the link with microsoft Viva, does a site created from the Ms Viva Experience not have a global navigation bar?

It appears to be missing or could there be another reason the global navigation bar does not appear on the site as it does with other sites in ‘normal’ scenarios?

What are the navigation experience limitations when using ms viva?

You have to register a site as a Hub site. If you’re trying to use Viva connections, you also need to set it as a Home site. Then you can join the department sites to the Hub, and it will carry the navigation.

Don’t new sites need to be associated with the hub in order for the navigation to appear?

so, Viva is not sharepoint, viva is using sharepoint as a source for information, kind of like teams with documents. You have to build your viva connection page either from scratch (you don’t have to use a sharepoint site for this) or based off an existing sharepoint site. If you want to show Global Nav on your viva connection app you add them to the Resources section of the viva connection page. If you’re in the viva app trying to do common tasks found in sharepoint then you’re in the wrong place. You need to go to the sharepoint site to do sharepoint tasks like associate to a hub. Again Viva Connections != SharePoint but rather it’s a digestor of content from SharePoint.

I don’t see the option to associate it with a hub
