I’ve been having a problem with Nord VPN for a while and wondered if this is a common problem with an easy fix.
I have and iPhone 13 running iOS 17, latest App Store version of Nord VPN. I have had this problem on iOS 16 previously as well.
If I’m on WiFi, I click connect in the app, it seemingly temporarily disconnects WiFi, connects to the vpn using cellular, WiFi reconnects, I go on my way.
However, if I’m not connected to WiFi, Nord will not connect using cellular. I’ve tried reconfiguring the profile, deleting and reinstalling the app, toggling auto connect settings, the lot. It will not connect if I don’t have WiFi. Nord is enabled in cellular data.
If I put my phone in airplane mode, no cellular, it connects fine using WiFi.
Is it possible my mobile provider is blocking the connection?
I’m having the exact same problem. I’m running an iPhone 14 Pro Max on iOS 16.6, and it may have started while I was on 16.5.1. For security, when I leave the house, I turn WiFi off and Bluetooth as well, if I won’t be using it. So, I, too, need Nord to run on cellular.
Had this issue for a long time until someone noticed changing the APN in mobile data/cellular settings fixed the issue. Depends what network you’re with, and what APNs they have, however.
I looked at System Services under Settings - Cellular- Cellular Data, and some VPN service data does get transmitted. I’m also seeing the cellular connection has both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. This is on Verizon.
I have a fix for you. Go on my profile and scroll down 3 posts. I shared my experience and how to fix it. Seems like you’ve got the same problem I used to have.
